Ewan visits his estranged wife after break-up with younger co-star Mary

-

IF Ewan McGregor’s estranged wife was feeling a little smug at the weekend, she did a good job of hiding it. Eve Mavrakis was humiliated by her husband when he walked out on their marriage of 22 years to be with a younger co-star – but the actor, 46, has now reportedly been dumped by the woman he left her for.

And just hours after news of the split was made public, McGregor paid a visit to his estranged wife.

But far from gloating, Ms Mavrakis, 51, was spotted looking glum as McGregor visited her home in Los Angeles. The actor was seen pushing their youngest daughter, seven-yearold Anouk, on a bike in Santa Monica while his estranged wife, a French production designer, went for a walk in nearby Brentwood.

Ms Mavrakis, pictured, looked sullen as she opted not to join in the family bonding session.

McGregor, who lives in California, filed for divorce from his wife last month. The couple became estranged after he began a relationship with Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 33, his costar in the hit US television show Fargo. The pair were seen kissing in a London restaurant in October.

The actor blamed ‘irreconcilable differences’ for the split from the mother of his four daughters, the oldest of whom is 22. But McGregor was reportedly dumped by Ms Winstead last week as she did not like being known as a ‘home-wrecker’.

A source told US magazine Star: ‘Mary hated being labelled a homewrecker and the embarrassment it caused her. It’s because a year ago Ewan and his wife were in great shape and then he decided to throw it all away for Mary. Now it looks like he’s lost them both for good.’

Ms Mavrakis was embarrassed in January when McGregor thanked both her and his lover during his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, where he won best actor for his role in Fargo.

He said: ‘I want to take a moment to just say thank you to Eve, who always stood by me for 22 years, and our four children … And there wouldn’t have been any Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead.’

The following week, McGregor embraced Ms Winstead before going to collect a Critics’ Choice award.

Ms Mavrakis has found comfort in her daughters, with Clara, 22, posting a picture of herself on holiday in Mexico at Christmas alongside her sisters and their mother with the caption: ‘Thank you @evemcgregor123 – we owe it all to you.’
