THE TEN CRAZIEST INSURANCE POLICIES

-

Tens of thousands of Americans have been insured against abduction by aliens. There’s one born every minute. A sucker that is, not an alien.

Lloyds insured the breasts of Dolly Parton for €4.3million.

The Royal Falcon Hotel in Dubai bought cover for €1million in case staff or guests were killed or injured… by a poltergeist!

Ugly Betty star America Ferrera had her teeth insured for €8million. Surely her famous character could get away with a chip or two — and anyway she wore braces.

British comedian Ken Dodd did the same to the tune of €4.5million for his buck teeth.

British travel insurer Club Direct issued a policy document covering against falling coconuts. But maybe this isn’t as ‘nuts’ as it sounds. Falling coconuts apparently do injure and kill a lot of people. And in any case they generated plenty of publicity.

Real football managers may need to insure players against injury. Fantasy football managers with imaginary online teams do not. Those who buy new insurance policies set up for this purpose are, well, living in a fantasy world.

Silent movie star Ben Turpin insured his ‘crossed eyes’ with Lloyds in case they uncrossed and ruined his comedy career.

Michael Flatley insured his legs for €25 million. I think that says more about the size of his ego than the value of his limbs.

Renowned Food critic Egon Ronay insured his taste buds with Lloyds for €325,000.
