Sizzling-hot DWTS sees model crash and Beirne

IT might still be cold outside but it was sizzling hot in the Dancing With The Stars studio last night as the celebrities battled it out on the dancefloor.

And it seemed the competition was just that little bit too hot for model Alannah Beirne who crashed out in fine style.

The Co. Kildare native and her fellow contestants went head to head for a place in next week’s quarter-finals.

And in the end Alannah had to go up against the feisty Erin McGregor in a dance-off, with the sister of MMA fighter Conor McGregor winning out.

Fitness model Erin, with the support of professional dancer Ryan McShane, performed a sensuous waltz to the romantic ballad I Am Kissing You.

Alannah, meanwhile, strutted her stuff, doing a passionate samba with the support of Vitali Kozmin.

Both women received standing ovations from the audience for their turns. Judge Loraine Barry said that while she wanted Erin to move forward to the next stage, both she and Alannah had produced ‘amazing’ performances.

After Erin received the show of support from the judges, and was voted through to next week’s show, losing contestant Alannah thanked everyone involved in the show.

‘To Vitali, I want to say a massive thank you. You’ve just been phenomenal,’ she said. ‘It’s been a roller coaster of emotion but I wouldn’t change it for the world.’

Model Alannah was not initially part of the original Dancing With The Stars line-up this year, but stepped in after former Miss Ireland Aoife Walsh fractured her toe in December.

At the start of last night’s show on RTÉ, only six contestants remained.

Along with Erin and Alannah were Deirdre O’Kane, Rob Heffernan, Jake Carter and Anna Geary.

To spice things up, the dancers broke off into two teams after their individual performances, in an attempt to maximise their score. ‘Team Party Rockers’ included Erin, Anna and Rob. They won a total of 25 points from the judges after salsa and cha-cha numbers. These points were then added to each dancer’s score from earlier in the evening.

But the judges were even more impressed by the next team performance by the team ‘Floor Fillers’, consisting of comedian Deirdre O’Kane, young gun Jake Carter and Alannah.

They performed a dance based on the salsa and got a score of 30.

But it was the battle of the models in the end, after the public’s voted was counted, resulting in Naas beauty Alannah exiting stage left.
