YOU have to hand it to Met Éireann. It did a really great job this week. Now that the thaw is on, the rain is back and there is a risk of flooding, should it change its name to Wet Éireann?

UNDESIRABL­ES such as the ones who looted Lidl are in the minority in working-class areas such as Tallaght. But neverthele­ss they are a symptom of a place left to social decay. Drug addiction and proper policing/funding would help turn such places around – if, of course, the political will was there.

PERHAPS Leo Varadkar should rename his beloved spin team the ‘Strategic Propaganda Unit’, or maybe even more appropriat­ely, the ‘Not-So-Strategic Miscommuni­cations Unit’.
