week’s snowstorm shutdown is believed to have left the country with a bill running into the ‘hundreds of millions’, experts have said.
Retail, agriculture, construction and transport workers were all hit by the blizzard and could not make it to work.
Small businesses’ leader Neil McDonnell, of small firms association Isme, believes the three-day shutdown for most of Leinster and Munster cost businesses dearly.
‘It’s very, very significant but we take the hit,’ he said. ‘It will be in the hundreds of millions.’
