Internal Bleeding
INTERNAL bleeding can be fatal, not only because of the loss of blood, but also because of shock, cardiac arrest and death where it is not identified or treated quickly. Even if not fatal, internal bleeding can damage vital organs as blood builds up around them and it will certainly apply pressure to them. Internal bleeding occurs as a consequence of arterial or venous damage. Blood escapes from the circulatory system and collects inside the body. Be aware that a patient who shows signs of shock, without obvious bleeding, may be bleeding internally. Bruising of the skin may indicate internal bleeding.
