INTERNAL bleeding of the organs of the body is identified by the colour and texture of the blood it releases (see table below). Internal bleeding may occur within the abdominal cavity, chest cavity, digestive tract and internal organs such as the lungs, stomach, kidneys and bowel. Bleeding can also occur in the brain, tissue and joints.
