My Fair daddy .... Saoirse’s father makes soap debut
WHO needs Hollywood when you’ve got Carrigstown?
Saoirse Ronan may have missed out on an Oscar but her father Paul is making his own acting headlines this week by debuting in Fair City.
The accomplished 52-yearold actor appeared last night as Anto Collins – and his arrival was met with immediate mistrust by his onscreen daughter. While businesswoman Hayley (played by Rebecca Grimes) was initially stunned to see Anto, she quickly became suspicious and believed him to be hiding something when he deflected questions about her mother.
Actor and producer Paul, who has previously appeared on Striking Out, The Tudors and Love/Hate, is perhaps best known for playing the role of Edso Dowling in the BBC drama Ballykissangel.
Saoirse is the only child of Paul Ronan and his wife Monica, née Brennan.
The couple welcomed their daughter while living in New York before moving back to Ireland and raising her in Co. Carlow.
