Treatment of shock

1 Open the airway.

2 Treat the cause of shock where possible, (e.g. external bleeding).

3 Raise and support the lower limbs.

4 Ensure the patient is warm.

5 Loosen any tight clothing the patient may be wearing.

6 Observe the patient’s vital signs.

7 Reassure the patient.

8 Stay with the patient until the emergency services arrive.
