TD’s son held over ‘assault’

THE son of a prominent TD has been arrested for questioning over an alleged assault last Christmas.

The man was detained by gardaí on Tuesday night and taken to the divisional headquarters in a county town. Neither he nor his TD parent is being named by the Irish Daily Mail today as no charge has been brought. It is understood a file is likely to go forward to the DPP.

The Garda Press Office last night said it did not comment on named individuals. The alleged victim, a visitor from overseas, is understood to have made a full statement to investigating officers.
