Appeal tops €126,000

-

A FUND-RAISING campaign initiated by Emma Hannigan, who herself fought cancer for 11 years, has raised €126,000.

The writer, 45, was an ambassador for Breast Cancer Ireland and appealed to the public to donate to the charity in a bid to raise €100,000.

Book lovers, fans and the public are continuing to donate to the appeal following her death last Saturday.

A BCI spokesman said: ‘Donations are still coming in thick and fast, which is wonderful to see.

‘Up to €126,000 has now been donated. It is a true testament to Emma and all she has done for this organisation.’

Ms Hannigan had said her poor health had prevented her from doing much for the organisation of late.

Donations to BCI of €4 can be made by texting the word CURE to 50300.
