Murphy returns to lead Kingdom

- By PAUL KEANE

CAPTAIN Shane Murphy has returned to the Kerry line-up for tomorrow’s Allianz Football League glamour date with Dublin. Holders Kerry are chasing backto-back wins over Dublin in the League after beating Jim Gavin’s side in last year’s decider. Boss Éamonn Fitzmaurice has responded to their Round 4 loss to Galway by drafting in Murphy along with attacking duo Adrian Spillane and Kevin McCarthy. There’s first starts against Dublin for ex-minor stars David Clifford and Sean O’Shea while Sigerson Cup winners Jack Barry and Barry O’Sullivan continue their midfield partnership. Meanwhile, former hurling AllStar Ger Aylward is back in Kilkenny’s line-up for the first time since last July. The Cats face Wexford tomorrow in Division 1A when they’ll battle to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat to Davy Fitzgerald’s side. Injury plagued Aylward is recalled with defenders Padraig Walsh and Conor Delaney and John Donnelly up front. As for Tipp, captain Padraic Maher is among six players who return to their team to play Cork in Thurles tomorrow. Goalkeeper Brian Hogan and wing-back Barry Heffernan are also in while former All-Star defender Cathal Barrett is named at midfield. Jason Forde and John McGrath play up front. Former captain Johnny McCaffrey and Donal Burke are recalled for Dublin’s hurling Division 1B relegation clash with Laois. Limerick have made six changes for their promotion decider with Galway. Fitzgibbon Cup winners Sean Finn, Gearóid Hegarty, Tom Morrissey and Barry Murphy are back in the team with Nickie Quaid and Seamus Hickey.
