OVERSEAS ACTIVITY ‘EXAMINED CLOSELY’

-

KIERAN Creaven has become estranged from his family and his wife since his arrest for preying on a fictitious child made headlines in November.

The court heard the 55-yearold Dublin man had become addicted to pornography over the last ten years and it had turned into an ‘obsession’.

Segments of a letter from his wife were read out in court and she wrote that he had been ‘in a dark place’ for a number of years. Jailing Creaven for 18 months, Judge Simon Phillips QC commented: ‘You have lost your job and your marriage has been shattered.’

Following his arrest, a major Garda investigation was launched into potential contact by Creaven with underage girls in numerous countries, including Cambodia.

It remains ‘a live investigation’, senior security sources said. It is understood that gardaí

have established that the former RTÉ sports producer travelled to many countries, including Cambodia, Poland, Ukraine and London.

They say his activities overseas are currently being examined closely.

Creaven had earned more than €100,000 a year working for the State broadcaster.

He has travelled extensively as part of his work as well as in a personal capacity.
