÷ONE thing struck me about TV3’s The Tonight Show when I looked in on Wednesday. Fifty-something Fine Gael TD Colm Brophy is remarkably lucky for a man of his age not to have even a fleck of grey in his hair. ÷ONE of the most famous sequences in cinema is when Janet Leigh’s character, pictured right, meets a gruesome end in Psycho. Even though it doesn’t go on for very long, it nonetheless took a week to film. On BBC2 tonight, Hitchcock’s Shower Scene: 78/52 (the numbers refer to the takes and edits involved) is a 90-minute special looking back at the production process. ÷EVER since first seeing his performance in the classic Billy Liar, I’ve had a soft spot for Tom Courtenay, pictured right. He also put in a memorable guest appearance in an episode of The Royle Family a decade or so ago. So it is nice to see that he will be on Channel 4 tonight in a film called 45 Years, especially given that he is appearing opposite the fragrant Charlotte Rampling.
