Christmas FM’s €200k helping restore sight

-

CHRISTMAS FM has begun to put the money raised in 2017 to good use.

The station, which plays festive favourites for December every year, relaunched for a day during Storm Emma. The station’s partner last year was Sightsavers, and more than €200,000 was raised to help fund sight restoration surgeries in some of the world’s poorest areas.

One of the first procedures was carried out on a woman named Mariamo in Mozambique, and Ciara Smullen of Sightsavers said: ‘Just one day after surgery, she has regained her independence.’
