Giant fossilised tooth stolen
A GIANT fossilised tooth belonging to the largest sea creature ever to have existed has been stolen from the bedrock in a remote part of Australia.
The relic from a Megalodon – a prehistoric shark that measured up to 18metres – went missing from a secret location at a protected site. The 8cm tooth, pictured, is up to 2.5million years old. Parks official Arvid Hogstrom said it was believed the thief was ‘someone that just wants to have a fossil on their mantelpiece’.
