OVER AND OUT

- CHRIS WHEELER at Old Trafford

JOSE MOURINHO came under fire last night after Manchester United were dumped out of the Champions League.

Sevilla substitute Wissam Ben Yedder hit a brilliant brace to light up a dour contest with a stunning double in the space of four minutes.

Romelu Lukaku pulled a goal back with six minutes remaining but the night belonged to the visitors, who sealed their spot in the last eight.

Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand blasted the display.

‘Terrible. I didn’t see this result or performance coming, they looked like a team thrown together full of strangers,’ he told BT Sport.

‘They played nervously and cautiously. You’ve got to take the game by the scruff of the neck.’

Fellow United legend Paul Scholes was equally scathing. ‘If you go back to the first game, teams go to places to try to score goals in the modern game and United didn’t do that.’
