Gardaí ‘worried’ about Elisha
GARDAÍ are becoming ‘increasingly concerned’ for the welfare of a 14-year-old girl who went missing after a ‘minor’ argument with her mother, in which the teenager’s mobile phone was confiscated.
It is understood Elisha Gault had the ‘typical teenage argument’, relating to the youngster’s boyfriend, with her mother in the family home on St Patrick’s night. She went upstairs to her bedroom after the row, and when her mother Gráinne Gault went to check on her a hour later, she had vanished.
Elisha has been missing from her home in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary, since 10pm on Saturday. The 5ft 10in teen left without her coat and mobile phone, and gardaí are concerned about the ‘bitterly cold’ weather conditions she went out into.
Gráinne Gault has appealed to her daughter, or anyone who may have information about her whereabouts, to come forward.
She wrote yesterday on Facebook: ‘My baby girl still has not been seen since St Patrick’s night, can we keep sharing, even if she doesn’t want to come home, her safety is our priority, if you’ve seen her after 10.15pm, let someone know she’s safe.’
Yesterday, gardaí reissued an appeal for information about Elisha. They believe the last credible sighting of the teenager was on Dillon Bridge in Carrick-on-Suir at about 10.15pm on St Patrick’s night, heading towards the Carrickbeg area on the Co. Waterford side of the town.
More than 50 emergency service personnel and volunteers have been involved in the search for Elisha, and sources say a number of boats have been used to look along the River Suir.
It is understood gardaí have interviewed Elisha’s boyfriend and do not believe he knows anything whatsoever about her disappearance or whereabouts. Sources stressed the missing teen is ‘a very good kid from a good home’ and that this is ‘very much out of character’.
