Do your share! Co-living is here

- By Lisa O’Donnell

THE ‘co-living’ experience has arrived in Dublin – with the launch of a ‘boutique’ 51-bed residence at Fitzwilliam Square yesterday.

Tenants of the two-bed and three-bed apartments share communal living space, and the aim is to bring young professionals together to enjoy an ‘authentic and higher quality shared-living experience’.

Rent prices will start at €1,350 a month per bedroom, including WiFi and utilities, and the interior designed apartments will be equipped with smart home devices, a retro-style SMEG fridge and mid-century furniture.

Local artists will be enlisted to create pop-up art for the living space. The property is owned by Node, a company which is has opened similar modern sharedliving spaces in cities such as New York and London. It has chosen Dublin as its flagship property due to the capital’s position as a ‘dynamic, creative and entrepreneurial city on the world stage’.

According to CEO of Node, Anil Khera, the accommodation will cater for the demands of the next generation of renters. ‘They want to be part of an authentic community in a central neighbourhood and have a cost-effective housing solution that embraces the sharing economy,’ he said.

Node says its ‘community curator’ will help match potential roommates and help them get to know the local area through social events and volunteer days.
