NOT FIRST RUGBY SEX SCANDAL

-

THIS is not the first time Irish rugby players have been caught up in a sex scandal. Five years ago, two senior internationals were at the centre of a media storm after a video of a threesome they were involved in was shared online.

The story emerged after the woman sent a private Facebook message about the incident to a friend. She initially appeared to boast about her night with the men in the message, but after learning there was a video of it being circulated, she was became distraught.

The woman, who has a business degree and worked for a financial firm, did not know she was being filmed. Images from the video were also sent via email to various offices around the country. After hearing about its existence, she deleted her Facebook page and left the country for a period. She told a newspaper the message was to a ‘close friend’ and she never thought anyone else would see it.

The fling was alleged to have taken place after a night out by the rugby friends at a well-known Dublin nightspot. They had been socialising in the Grafton Street area before visiting a club where they were entertained in the VIP area.

The woman told her friend she met one of the players, by chance, outside a takeaway. She claims they went to his hotel and had drinks.

The second player was alleged to have entered the room afterwards and that was when the threesome was alleged to have occurred.
