Is Meghan’s dad swotting up before his daughter’s wedding day?

-

WHEN your daughter’s about to become a princess, it’s probably a good idea to swot up on the country she’s going to be living in. And that’s just what Thomas Markle appears to be doing ahead of his daughter Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry next month.

The 73-year-old, right, was pictured carrying an AA-published book called Images of Britain: A Pictorial Journey Through History as he strolled through his hometown of Rosarito, Mexico, last week.

It could suggest the reclusive pensioner will give his daughter away as she walks down the aisle in St George’s Chapel, Windsor, southeast England, on May 19.

Kensington Palace has yet to confirm whether the retired television lighting director will do so.

The guidebook Mr Markle was carrying was first published in August 1990 and is packed full of the many beautiful landscapes and buildings of Britain.

Fewer than 20 pages in, he will have found a photograph of his daughter’s wedding venue, Windsor Castle, looming over boats on the Thames.

Buckingham Palace, where a 15year-old Meghan once posed for a holiday snap, also features in the book as does Harrods, which recently announced it will remove its memorial statue of Princess Diana.

Bath Abbey, York Cathedral and Edinburgh Castle, which Meghan recently visited with Harry, are featured as well. Other locations with royal connections are also featured.

Last year Mr Markle was reportedly left ‘extremely’ hurt after Prince Harry, 33, told the BBC his relatives were ‘the family’ his 36-year-old fiancée ‘never had’.

Ms Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, 51, of Grants Pass, Oregon told MailOnline the actress’s family had ‘smothered her with love’.

He said: ‘My father will be extremely hurt, actually. He dedicated the majority of all his time and everything to her. He made sure she had what she needed to be successful and get to where she’s at today.’

American actress Ms Markle, 36, has thrown herself into preparing for her new role as Harry’s wife, it was reported last month.

She has reportedly been learning about royal protocol, practising how to curtsey and studying the history of the monarchy.

Last month the couple got a warm welcome when they visited Belfast.
