Sorry Barack and Theresa but we’d rather invite Rory!

Pair did Ice Bucket Challenge together

RORY McIlroy, the cast of Suits and tennis ace Serena Williams are all expected to mingle with the great and the good on May 19 when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tie the knot, according to royal biographer Andrew Morton.

However, big names from the world of politics including Barack Obama and Theresa May won’t be present.

After Meghan split from her first husband, Trevor Engelson – a relationship Mr Morton said she ended by posting her rings back – the actress filmed the Ice Bucket Challenge with Co. Down golfer Rory in 2014.

Mr Morton insists that contrary to reports, the pair were just good friends and that there was ‘nothing in the whispers’ that they were dating.

‘I would expect Rory will be a guest at the wedding,’ said the writer, whose much publicised new book, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, is out today.

The cast of Suits, the hit TV show that Meghan, 36, featured in for seven years, are also highly likely to attend, along with long-time friend Serena.

‘You are probably going to have Serena Williams, Rory McIlroy and a lot of big celebs,’ Mr Morton added.

While all Meghan’s showbiz friends, along with Kate Middleton, Prince William, the Queen and more, will be in attendance, her older half-brother Tom and half-sister Samantha are Rory: ‘Never dated the actress’ unlikely to be present at Windsor Chapel for the big day.

Mr Morton said: ‘It is going to be a thin group of Markle family members. Her brother is not going. The sister, maybe. And if the sister is not going, she will come over to the UK to do some commentary.’

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Barack and Michelle Obama, American president Donald Trump and UK prime minister Theresa May will not be invited.

Meghan and Harry announced their engagement in November 2017, less than two years after they were first introduced in London’s Soho House by mutual friend Violet von Westenholz.
