Kinahans’ man jailed by Dutch for 18 years for murder bid
A DUTCH criminal closely linked to the Kinahan gang has been jailed for attempted murder in Holland after being discovered and arrested by gardaí in Dublin in 2016.
Naoufal Fassih was sentenced to 18 years in jail for the attempted murder relating to a criminal feud in Holland.
Fassih was involved in an attempted assassination outside Amsterdam in which a criminal group fired 36 shots at a man as he sat in his car.
Despite suffering a number of gun wounds the victim Peter Raap survived the attempt on his life.
Fassih, 37, also known as ‘Stomach’ was arrested by gardaí in Dublin in April 2016 at an address in Baggot Street during a special Garda operation targeting gangland activity in the city.
When arrested he was carrying watches worth more than €50,000, designer shoes, phones and cash all with links to criminal activity. He was also carrying a fake Dutch passport.
Dutch authorities had been hunting Fassih at home and abroad before he was captured by the unsuspecting gardaí.
Irish authorities were unaware of his identity until fingerprint tests revealed who he was.
He was sent back to the Netherlands via military aircraft after High Court Judge Aileen Donnelly ordered his extradition.
Fassih who is believed to have been in Ireland for up to nine months before his arrest was charged with paying the men to assassinate Mr Raap.
Fassih is the sixth person to be convicted of the vicious attack which took place in 2015.
