A royal mess? How Meghan and Harry could ruin our big day!

‘We had to write to the Queen’

AN IRISH bridal party have been left with a royal headache after learning that their wedding will be taking a similar route as Harry and Meghan to the altar.

Celé Brits, who grew up in Killarney, is to marry her fiancé Lawrence Mason on May 19 in Burnham, southern England, which is near Windsor where the royals will wed on the same day.

Celé’s mother Jeanne, who wanted nothing short of the royal treatment for her daughter’s special day, said the whole thing ‘has become more of a nightmare than an excitement’.

Jeanne introduced her daughter to Lawrence in Exeter when the family moved there in 2013 and Celé started university in England. She said that the whole situation has become very stressful because of the security issues they face with holding a wedding near to the royal couple’s own nuptials.

‘It is just because the logistics of it all, they get married in Windsor and our venue is in Burnham which is literally 20 minutes apart’, she said.

‘I know I’ve seen in the surrounding areas there are already 20 road closures,’ she added.

The bride’s family, alongside four of the five bridesmaids, will be travelling from Ireland and staying in London, a car-ride away from the venue.

Furthermore, many of the 77 guests attending live in and around the London area and are likely to experience travel chaos as Meghan goes down the aisle.

The police told Jeanne that there were likely to be massive numbers of well-wishers and lots of security checks. She has even heard that the council has asked some shops to close and she is worried about the flowers for her own daughter’s wedding.

Jeanne decided to write ‘a lovely letter’ to the grandmother of the royal groom, Queen Elizabeth, to see if she could offer them any advice.

‘We congratulated them on their big day but we were also raising concerns around travelling and the possibility of the security checks’, she explained.

‘We just want to know from the Queen can she give us a bit of guidance of what to expect’.

Although the Irish bride and bridesmaids will be arriving at the venue around 6am to start getting ready in the bridal suite, Jeanne says that she can only arrive with the cake, flowers and centre pieces two hours before the wedding.

‘We have to travel with the cake and the flowers because we can only set up two hours before the wedding’, she said. ‘I don’t know what we are supposed to do or who would have information.’

Celé and Lawrence got engaged in early September and organised their wedding within a month, while Harry and Meghan didn’t announce their upcoming nuptials until November by which time the Irish wedding was arranged.

Celé bride is calm and will collect her dress on Friday.

‘The day might be a little bit of a hiccup but everything else is sorted’, Jeanne said.
