Vicky’s girl Amelia meets her idol Ed
VICKY Phelan’s daughter got to meet pop superstar Ed Sheeran backstage at the weekend.
Mrs Phelan, who has terminal cancer after being wrongly given the all-clear by the HSE’s CervicalCheck service, posted a picture of Amelia with the singer on her Twitter page.
‘And this happened,’ she wrote above a photo of the singer with his arm round her daughter. ‘My daughter Amelia met her idol, Ed Sheeran.
‘A massive shout out to my new BFF Will Hanafin and (Ray D’Arcy) for organising this for Amelia.’
Referencing the lyrics to Sheeran’s song Photograph, she added: ‘We keep this love in a photograph’.
Before they met, the 43-year-old terminally ill mother-of-two said that her 12-year-old daughter was ‘beyond excited’.
The secretly organised meet-andgreet at Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh was managed behind the scenes by the Ray D’Arcy Show after Mrs Phelan asked the team to help.
In previous interviews, Mrs Phelan has spoken about her children, saying: ‘I’m 43 and being literally told to go home and sort out my affairs. I’ve two young children.’
She also has a seven-year-old son Darragh. Shortly after her case first came to light, she was asked on TV3 how her family were coping.
She replied: ‘It’s been very difficult. My daughter was very upset today. It suddenly hit her because she had been reading the headlines.’
