Busy Tony raises glass to royals

AN IRISHMAN who runs one of the most popular pubs in Windsor has expressed his delight at the world’s media landing on his doorstep ahead of the wedding.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will exchange vows at St George’s Chapel today before embarking on a two-mile tour through Windsor.

The procession, which is expected to last 25 minutes, will pass by the front door of The Windsor Castle pub on Kings Road, where Dubliner Tony Dawson is the manager.

Royal fans and supporters from all over the globe are set to take to the streets in the area from the early hours of this morning, and Mr Dawson said he couldn’t believe it when he found out the newlyweds will be passing by the pub.

‘We thought the procession would be kept more towards the Windsor Castle area, but fair play to Harry, he’s given us a few holidays,’ he told the Irish Daily Mail.

Media giants ITV and NBC have set up base in the pub, while Mr Dawson also gave permission for a few satellite cars to be put in the car park behind it. ‘We’ve earned a few bob from that,’ he said.

‘We’ll have caterers, Pimm’s bars, sangria, ice cream vans. We’ve something like 200 VIPs inside.’

Once the procession ends, the pub will open to the public for the day’s other big event – the FA Cup final.

‘We’re over the moon. We’ll make a good day of it,’ Mr Dawson said.
