Rio urged to ‘put a ring on it’ as Kate goes to Baftas in a wedding dress

-

HIS girlfriend recently revealed that his children would like the pair to add to their blended family. And now Rio Ferdinand has revealed that his kids Lorenz, 11, Tate, nine, and Tia, six, have already started to plan a wedding between the football pundit and his girlfriend, former Towie star Kate Wright, 26.

The former Man Utd centre back – who recently won a TV Bafta for his documentary Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum And Dad – told the The Sun his brood would love to play a part in their potential wedding.

Gushing about his children’s wishes, the star, 39, said: ‘My little girl wants a replica dress and all this stuff. They have it all planned.’

During the discussion, the doting father shared his admiration for Kate, who has stepped in as a mother figure following the death of his wife Rebecca Ellison in 2015.

He said: ‘I’m proud of her – she’s done an amazing job. People in her position can go unrecognised.’

Rio was confirming Kate’s earlier revelation, as she revealed that the youngsters have brought up the idea of marriage and more children – consistently pestering Kate and Rio about when they’re getting a baby brother or sister.

During a recent interview with This Morning, the beauty enthused: ‘At the school gates, at first they said that’s my aunt, then that’s dad’s girlfriend, then that’s my stepmum – and now they say on daily basis, “When are we having a brother or sister?” It’s really lovely!’

This comes as Kate revealed the slinky show-stopping look she wore to the TV Baftas was, in fact, a wedding dress as she took to her Instagram to thank a bridal boutique for her elegant look.

Her admission got fans in a tizzy as they commented in their droves about her wearing a wedding dress and urged Rio to ‘put a ring on it’.

One fan posted: ‘Rio is looking at her thinking, I need to get that ring.’

Kate attended the Bafta do with Rio when he received a Best Single Documentary Award for his film Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum And Dad.

In Rio’s BBC special, which aired last June, he depicted the difficulties of being a parent to his three children following the death of his wife following a short battle with cancer.

After he won the Bafta, Kate, pictured with Rio, praised him for opening up following his tragic ordeal, saying: ‘You are amazing, here is to the future, but always keeping the past in our hearts.’

In a highly emotional acceptance speech, the retired sports star said: ‘This documentary has propelled me forward into a period of happiness where my kids are happy and I’ve got a beautiful girlfriend.’
