Drugs, alcohol and promiscuity... Lily opens up
SHE shocked fans when she retweeted images of her intimate area in a bid to promote her new album.
And Lily Allen, left, has opened up about her turbulent past, drug use, promiscuity and her children in a candid new interview with online music publication Stereogum.
Admitting she’s had personal struggles, the singer, 33, revealed she had turned to alcohol and substance abuse when experiencing trouble in her personal life.
She said: ‘I think I’m a raging co-dependent and then when I feel like I can’t cope, I abuse alcohol and drugs to plaster over some stuff, but I’ve never been somebody that craves a fix.’ She also admitted that she is sober these days, saying she will only drink with dinner.
The star said she will smoke weed occasionally for ‘as long as she can take it’.
She is now gearing up for the release of her new revord, No Shame, her first studio album since 2014’s Sheezus.
Lily went on to say she believes the record industry manipulates young women.
She said: ‘I think the record industry is the boys’ club, and I think the boys’ club are okay with manipulating young women that don’t have any responsibilities.’
The star added that ‘maybe’ the industry feels ‘slightly more guilty behaving that way’ when a woman becomes a mother.
Lily also spoke of her guilt over leaving her children Ethel, seven, and Marnie, five, when they were young to do promotion for Sheezus, saying they ‘didn’t know her’ when she came home. She said their relationship had become ‘intermittent’ due to her promo schedule, but that they are now really close and have a ‘great relationship’.
