Becker splits from wife No 2 after nine years
BANKRUPT Boris Becker has split from his model wife Lilly after nine years of marriage.
A lawyer for the 50-year-old German tennis star and his Dutch wife, 41, confirmed the break-up.
Christian-Oliver Moser said: ‘The decision after a 13-year relationship and nine years of marriage wasn’t an easy one.’
Mr Moser said the separation was amicable and the couple’s main concern now was the well-being of their son Amadeus, eight.
Yesterday the three-time Wimbledon champion was seen at the French Open in Paris while Mrs Becker was spotted shopping at a Waitrose in London. Neither were wearing their wedding rings.
In March Mrs Becker told the Mail they had tried therapy to save their marriage. She said: ‘I’ve had a rough year. At first, I let go completely – too much drinking, too much smoking, too much going out and not caring.
‘Boris was going through a bad time in his way, so he didn’t notice. We disconnected and went our own ways.’ Becker reportedly earned the equivalent of €115million during his career but was declared bankrupt last June by a London court over an undisclosed sum owed to a private bank.
The former player, who was reported to have total debts of €62million, has appealed for help in tracing 14 trophies won during his career so he could sell them.
His mansion in Majorca – currently occupied by squatters – is on the market for €10million.
Becker has two sons from his first marriage to actress Barbara Feltus and a daughter from a tryst with a Russian model.
