THE CRITICISMS: ‘PLEASE STOP USING THE WORD MISERABLE’

-

HERE are some of the complaints received by Met Éireann... Today at 1300 in her weather report to the nation. She used the word miserable. As I keep telling people who use that word about the weather. The weather cannot ever be miserable your the one whom is miserable. So can you please stop using this word in your forecast. 03/02/2017 I was watching tonight’s forecast on RTE1 after 6.01 News when Gerry Murphy referred to km/h as kilometres per hour. Additionally the graphic behind him read KPH It’s a bit pedantic but please could you adjust to read km/h (Kilometers an Hour) as KPH does not exist. Everybody relies and appreciates the great job you do so as such it undermines the integrity of the forecast if using non-existent speed metrics. 22/02/2017 Could somebody there please suggest to Ms. [Joanna] Donnelly to get some advice on doing something to improve not only her hair style but her apparel as well. I hope she is not offended. 08/09/2017 Hi, Love your weather forecast on TV, Radio & App. However, could you ask Siobhán [Ryan, pictured] to either remove the false eyelashes or put a clip in her fringe to keep the eyelashes from catching in it. Shaking her head does not work. It really is very irritating when watching. Sorry for the personal comment. I’ve held off writing hoping that Management might intervene. 17/01/2018 Your forecaster Evelyn Cusack has just said that the storm is moving exactly as expected. My query is that if this is the case, why is Dublin on total lockdown for the entire day today. In my opinion all public transport services could have operated in the capital and the city could have operated all day. People in Dublin airport arriving from or departing to America say we the laughing stock of the world. In the states they measure snow in feet and in this country we get a few centimetres and the country comes to a standstill. However, as mentioned above I would like your view as to why the city was on total lock down when in my opinion there was no need for it. 01/03/2018 I watched Gerry Murphy forecasting the weather for the week last Sunday. Towards the end of the broadcast he showed 2 maps for Thursday and Friday. They showed sun all the way on both days!! I planned my week around these 2 “sunshine days”. How wrong he was and not for the first time!! There was total cloud all day with rain and heavy mist. How could he have got it so awfully wrong when you boast so much about all the new technology you have at your disposal? Don’t come back and say it’s not a natural science. Please do not say there is sunshine and warm weather coming just for the sake of giving us good news. 03/05/2018
