The smile’s back as Lily Allen looks to the future
LILY Allen has confirmed she is officially divorced from Sam Cooper, two years after revealing their split.
The 33-year-old singer, who recently admitted to being unfaithful to Cooper after struggling to cope with fame, confirmed the official end of the pair’s marriage in a candid interview on Loose Women.
The Hard Out Here hitmaker, pictured, confirmed her split from Cooper, 40, in 2016 following more than a year of speculation, and five years of marriage.
The former couple, who have two young daughters, Ethel, six and Marnie, five, first began dating in 2009.
Lily said : ‘I can use the D-word... [I’ve been] divorced for three days now.’
The Smile songstress said she has a relationship with Sam that is ‘very friendly’, and that the pair have an unconventional custody agreement, whereby they take their daughters for alternative weeks at a time.
She said: ‘Me and my ex-husband share custody, a week on and a week off, which is useful for me work, when he’s got them, I can do that.’
While Lily and Cooper aren’t together any more, the singer disclosed that the pair maintain a good ongoing relationship.
Asked how they came to the custody agreement, she said: ‘It wasn’t really something we discussed, we’re both really friendly, our kids go to school equidistant between our houses, so it works.
‘I left home quite a lot when I was young, I think I moved out when I was 15 or 16, my parents are quite unique. My mum was busy working away in America she couldn’t keep an eye on me anyway.’
