Forget Noel, Liam is the rock and roll star

-

ONE half of the warring brothers of Oasis, Liam Gallagher surprised all and sundry with his debut solo record As You Were.

Some initially turned their noses up that the younger Gallagher didn’t have the songwriting skills possessed by his brother Noel but the proof of the pudding was in the chart placing.

After joining forces with some of the writers who ha helped make a solo career for One Direction’s Harry Styles, Liam proved there was more to him than swagger and anoraks by hitting the number one spot in both the UK and Ireland.

Now aged 45, Gallagher has lost none of the attitude that made him a rock and roll star in his 20s. Depending on your viewpoint, this might not be a good thing.

But one thing is for certain, Gallagher’s album As You Were hit all the right notes with his legions of fans both young and old. And after a gig here at Halloween, Liam’s tackling the outdoors as he plays Malahide Castle on June 15. Put those hopes for an Oasis reunion on ice and go and see Gallagher belting out some crackers like Wall Of Glass and For What It’s Worth.

Fans can expect swearing and posturing by the bucketload from the stage and bucket hats by the bucketload from the audience.

And there’s bound to be a few Oasis classics thrown in for good measure for those who have followed his journey since the 1990s.
