Couple held over ‘rally bomb plot’

BELGIAN authorities have formally arrested a married couple in their 30s and accused them of preparing a bomb attack in France during a packed rally of an Iranian opposition group.

Two Belgian citizens of Iranian heritage were charged with attempted terrorist murder and preparing a terrorist crime against the Iranian opposition group, the Mujahedeen-eKhalq, in Villepinte, close to Paris.

About half a kilogramme of TATP explosives and a detonator were in the couple’s car, officials said.
