‘It’s very hard to explain it to the kids’

A MOTHER who may have to cancel a family trip to London has condemned Ryanair for saying it plans to wait until Tuesday to confirm if the strike will go ahead.

‘It’s not enough notice,’ Tricia McCarthy, from Kilfinane, Co. Limerick, told the Irish Daily Mail. Mrs McCarthy is due to fly to Gatwick with her husband Thomas and three children, Sophie, 12, Katie, 11, and Max, aged 15 months.

The holiday was booked as a birthday present for her eldest daughter. ‘That is kind of devastating for her at the moment,’ Tricia said.

The McCarthy family are hoping to stay with Thomas’s mother, and Tricia said that the grandmother is devastated. ‘The little boy is walking since she got to see him last... she is in bits at the moment.’

Tricia has already paid for the family to visit Madame Tussauds wax museum, Chessington adventure resort, and a bus tour. ‘It’s very hard to try and explain it to the kids,’ she said.
