SPARE a thought for all the tanned, happy hordes of holidaymakers returning to Ireland this week from their expensive annual sun holiday abroad – to be met by hordes of tanned, happy Irish people who never left at all. And if the returning holidaymakers do appear to be more brightly coloured than the rest of us, then that’ll just be the rage at spending all that money on food, accommodation, scenery and weather that wasn’t a patch on ours. It turns out that the secret of good foreign holidays is the same as the secret of good comedy: timing.
