It would take until TUESDAY to fill pool

FILLING a 7,500-litre swimming pool isn’t easy, but filling a 7,500-litre swimming pool when there’s a ban on using hosepipes is even harder.

An Irish Daily Mail calculation found that filling a 10litre bucket in a sink takes 77 seconds, while bringing the bucket outside and emptying it into a pool before returning to the sink again would add a further two minutes to this time.

Given it would take 750 round trips to fill the Lidl swimming pool with our hypothetical 10-litre bucket, we calculate it would take just over 41 hours to fill a pool in this manner.

Therefore, if you started filling a pool this morning and spent eight hours every day filling it without a break, your pool would be ready by Tuesday evening.

Let’s hope that the good weather would still be there by then – and that your arm hadn’t fallen off with the effort!
