STRENGTHS

WHEN Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi embraced after France beat Argentina, it was as if Messi was passing the baton to the 19-year-old. Mbappe’s pace, power and finishing ability make him almost unplayable. THE world’s best centre-back pairing of Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez. The Atletico Madrid defenders give Uruguay the steeliness to grind out results. They have conceded once from 11 shots on their goal.

WEAKNESSESS

DIDIER DESCHAMPS is yet to get the best from this talented group. France were not free-flowing in the group stage and need to show more of the flair that saw them put four past Argentina. EDINSON CAVANI and Luis Suarez give them serious firepower, but Cavani limped off with a calf injury after scoring twice to beat Portugal. If he misses out, Uruguay will rely on Suarez for goals.
