FOOT SPAS

-

OUT from a prolonged winter break in snow boots and woolly socks, our feet have been on show in all manner of sandals and flip-flops for the past two months. Not even the experts at Saoirse Ronan’s favourite Dublin nail bar Tropical Popical could have predicted it.

‘Do you know what the gas thing is? We just renovated and we had four pedi stations and we never used them — hands were always more popular — so we took them out!’ cringes Andrea Horan, co-owner of the business with her sister Michelle. ‘Now we only have two pedi stations and a constant queue of people waiting to get in. I’m raging!

‘It’s all very pedicurefocused at the moment for sure. We’ve had loads of men in for them as well because we have a treatment called the Man Feet Fix.’

Over at the Clara Hand and Foot Spa in Dublin’s Blackrock, Justina Soreil, above, has seen the same trend for pedicures.

‘I’ve been doing feet all day long for the last couple of weeks. I’m doing feet for 18 years and normally people begin looking for pedicures from March when they start travelling but that didn’t happen this year. It was a long and cold winter. It all started from May and since then I actually have mainly done feet. I don’t think anybody is in closed shoes now unless you have to work in them. It’s booming for sure because ladies are more aware of what condition their feet are in.’
