Pesto salmonella fear
TWO retailers are recalling batches of pesto over salmonella concerns.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said: ‘As a precautionary measure, Dunnes Stores and Spar are initiating a recall of their ownbrand pestos due to the possible presence of salmonella.
‘Consumers who have bought the implicated batches should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.’ Meanwhile, Greenyard Frozen UK Ltd is recalling a variety of frozen vegetable products as these could cause listeriosis. The products are on sale in Tesco and Lidl.
Listeriosis can be life-threatening, particularly for pregnant women, the elderly and those with a weakened immune system.
