STROKES OF GENIUS, 6.20PM, BBC2
JOHN McEnroe, Bjorn Borg and Martina Navratilova are among the big names adding their thoughts to this new documentary recalling one of the greatest tennis matches ever played – the five-hour slog-fest between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal (pictured) that was the 2008 Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final. The film trawls through archive footage tracking the men’s lives from childhood right up until the final. Until this point the two had an unspoken custody arrangement. Nadal ruled the clay – he had just beaten Federer yet again in the French Open final. Federer ruled the grass – he had beaten Nadal in the 2006 and 2007 Wimbledon final. But by 2008, all bets were off. The fact that both men are still the top two in the world only confirms the match’s clash as one of the greatest ever.
