Laois serve as a chilling reminder to Monaghan as to what life used to be like prior to Malachy O’Rourke. They O’Moore men were the last team to play — and beat — Monaghan in 2012, prior to O’Rourke’s arrival. In the interim, these teams have swapped places. Monaghan are seeking to reach the last eight for a fifth time in O’Rourke’s six seasons. Laois are the third Division 4 team they will face this summer. And while this will be a tougher test, they will still come out on top with some comfort.
