England’s meetings with Sweden over the years have often been tight affairs. This will be no different. Raheem Sterling will be key. If he pulls the centre halves out of position, he will create space for Jesse Lingard.

It will be a very tight game but I do expect England to reach the semi-finals. England have been deadly from setpieces all tournament and I think Harry Kane will score from another to seal victory.

IAN HERBERT ENGLAND 2 SWEDEN 0

Sweden’s round of 16 revealed their really low technical level, but they’ll be very hard to break down. England must use the flanks. Their superiority will tell, but it may be late on before they make things safe.

I do worry a little about the way England struggle to create clear cut chances from open play, but I think they will come through this on the back of Sweden’s limitations as much as anything else.
