DELPH: COLOMBIA WIN PUT MY WIFE IN LABOUR
FABIAN DELPH has revealed the drama of the euphoric last 16 win over Colombia sent his overdue wife into labour. The England midfielder, who came on as a late substitute in Saturday’s victory over Sweden, was given permission to fly home last week because his partner Natalie was expecting their third daughter. The Manchester City star said: ‘It was actually that game that took her into labour. During the game she was diving about watching and she then went into hospital afterwards. ‘She had the baby, I got back and have had a session with the lads. It’s been one of the best weeks of my life. If not the best week of my life.’ Delph revealed that he hitched a flight on a private plane back to England after the Belgium game with the family of City team-mate Vincent Kompany. He said: ‘It was just me, his children and his wife. They had just beaten us so I didn’t know whether to speak to them!’
