Caulfield’s Euro battle cry

- FRANK KENT

CORK CITY are back in the Champions League for the first time in 12 years and tonight’s clash with Legia Warsaw at Turner’s Cross is the club’s 31st European fixture since in 1989/90. The Poles have won five of the last six league titles, and similar to Cork, they won the double last season. City have two injury scares with goalkeeper Mark McNulty (leg) and midfielder Garry Buckley (head gash) both rated 50/50. Peter Cherrie and Jimmy Keohane are on standby. ‘This is a huge game for us and Legia Warsaw is a formidable outfit,’ said Cork boss John Caulfield. ‘It’s fabulous for us that we get this chance to play them in a Champions’ League qualifier. They are the overwhelming favourites but you always look to the underdog to create a shock and that’s what we hope to do.’
