÷IF YOU are going on holidays, The Singalong Society for Singletons is a lovely read by Katey Lovell. This is a very funny, joyful story packed with show tunes, romance and wonderfully warm characters.

It is a story about Monique and Issy who are teachers, housemates and lovers of musicals. Their Friday nights consist of wine, snacks and a musical movie (mostly Frozen).

Life situations change and Friday nights evolve into the Singalong Society for Singletons. It is a chance to get together and sing along to their favourite tracks at the end of a long and sometimes trying week in school. In return, they forget about the worries of work, relationships and love — or as they say themselves — the lack of it. When Issy comes home one day to tell Monique that she has invited two more new members — males none the less! When this happens, their idea of singledom becomes somewhat more complicated... It is a hilarious read that’s not too taxing and will bring a smile to your face in this hot, hot weather. Available in bookshops nationwide. ÷LADIES, I have a problem — it’s a weakness for Mavala of Switzerland nail polishes. I have always loved their polishes in their handy travel-sized bottles. They have 12 new mini pot polishes for summer, including old favourites like Bordeaux Red and Sorbet Pink. However, I love Trinidad (rich blue); Samarkand (bright lilac) and the Mexico, a deep purple. They also have a new Gel Finish Top Coat (€9.99) which promises a manicure that will last up to 10 days. The polishes are €4.99 each, so you can afford to buy a couple!
