Royal visitors most welcome
IT is very pleasing to see Britain’s royal family showing a renewed and genuine interest in Ireland. In such a short space of time, we have had visits from Prince Charles and his wife Camilla and then Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle. They also show how much more they are in touch with ordinary people than we could ever have believed or hoped to be true. Britain’s royal family also seem to show more awareness of the history of these islands than the UK’s flag-waving politicians could ever hope to learn. Given their diplomatic skills, perhaps they should be in charge of Brexit negotiations.
