Ben’s talk of #newchapter sparks Instagram backlash
RUGBY star Ben Foden didn’t appear to be nursing a heartache – or showing any remorse – as he announced upcoming career plans and talked about starting a ‘new chapter’ in his life.
But fans reacted angrily on Instagram as Foden, 33, indicated he was looking forward to a #newchapter just days after his estranged wife Una Healy announced the couple were splitting, after Ben allegedly cheated on her with glamorous PR woman Becky Milne, 26.
The former England rugby star has now moved to New York to further his rugby career – without wife Una, 36, and their two young children, as originally planned.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday for the first time since the split was made public last week, Ben announced his new plans to work with a UK-based gym – as Una took the couple’s two children, sixyear-old Aoife and three-year-old Tadhg, to her native Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Last weekend, she was said to be drawing on the support of close friends and family, particularly her mother.
On Thursday, Foden posted a picture of the Athletic Factory gym with the comment: ‘My new haven for the next few weeks! Thanks @ afchesteruk for having me. Seriously good set up!’ However, fans were not impressed as Ben.
One person responded: ‘You’re a joke. Glad you’re getting on with your life while your family is heartbroken.’ Another said simply: ‘next chapter? insensitive much.’ Someone else said they hoped Ben ‘gets fat’.
Yesterday, he posted a video clip of his daughter on horseback, noting, ‘Took Aoife for her first ride on a pony this afternoon!’ He tagged the clip #cheshire.
