TIPP HAVE REBEL REVENGE IN MIND FOR DECIDER

- By DARAGH SMALL

TIPPERARY manager Liam Cahill says his men will be seeking revenge when they take on Cork in the All-Ireland final in two and a half weeks. They lost by 13 points to Cork in the Munster final but have now set up a rematch after seeing off Galway’s challenge in a sem-final in which three players were sent off at the Gaelic Grounds. ‘There was huge heart from our fellas at the end. And we have a great incentive to reduce that 13-point deficit from Cork in the Munster final,’ said Cahill. The Tribesmen finished with 13 men after having a player dismissed in each half, while Tipperary were reduced to 14 ten minutes into the second-half. Tipperary were on top when they had played with the breeze in the opening half and turned around to lead by 2-13 to 0-9. Brian Concannon cut Tipp’s early lead to 0-9 to 0-7 after Jake Morris helped the Premier County get on top before they again took control and outscored Galway by 2-3 to 0-2. Galway suffered a big blow when Concannon was sent off after an off the ball incident. Tipperary goalscorer Mark Kehoe was also sent off for a challenge on Galway goalkeeper Eanna Murphy. Galway got back in contention when a long delivery from Jack Grealish ended up in the net. That cut the margin to 2-16 to 1-15 with 11 minutes left but while Tomas Monaghan did most to lift the Tribesmen they couldn’t get close the gap.
