Ed tells of his grá for Ireland in promo
IS Ed Sheeran set to be Ireland’s pop culture Brexit buster?
The chart topper is set to appear in a promotional video for Tourism Ireland as part of its autumn campaign, the organisation confirmed yesterday.
Sheeran – who played a string of outdoor concerts in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast in May – features in the video chatting to broadcaster Dermot O’Leary about his favourite places in Ireland and memorable first concerts here, as well as his special connection to Irish crowds.
The singer, whose family hails from Co. Wexford, has teamed up with Tourism Ireland as part of their drive to continue to attract British tourists to our shores. The short video was shot in the London Irish Centre and also features images of some of Ireland’s stunning landscapes.
‘You speak to any musician, ever, and they always go the best crowds are in Dublin – mostly because people just play in Dublin but I reckon if they went elsewhere… [in Ireland] it’s a very good place to play,’ Sheeran says in the clip.
He also speaks of his love of Irish music, the fact that he visited here up to five times a year as a child and that Dingle is one of his favourite places. He adds: ‘I’d say if you are travelling to Ireland, to do touristy things, to go and see Dingle Bay. But if you want to live in Ireland for a bit, live in Wexford.’
