WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE FRANCIS!
A GROUP of nuns attending the World Meeting of Families for the first time said yesterday the highlight will be seeing Pope Francis this weekend.
The Sisters of the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word told the Irish Daily Mail that they had travelled from the UK, the Netherlands and Ireland to join in the celebrations in Dublin this week.
Sr Mary of the Holy Family said: ‘We are very excited to be here in Dublin at the World Meeting of Families. I actually live in Clonbollogue in Offaly but two of the sisters travelled over from the Netherlands for the events.
‘It’s a big thing for Pope Francis to visit Ireland and there are so many well run events here that we are delighted to witness it all.’
Another nun, Sr Mary of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk, England, said that it was her first time to visit Ireland after dreaming of visiting for years.
‘I am in my 60s now and I have always wanted to visit Ireland. It means a great deal to me to visit a country I have always dreamt about while the Holy Father is visiting.
‘I will be walking to the Phoenix Park with the sisters and we hope that Pope Francis will spread a message of hope and reconciliation.’
‘It’s a fantastically well run event and it’s lovely to meet and speak with other visitors and to hear the word of God,’ said Sr Mary.
